HIDDEN GEMS DEFINED

“Hidden gems” is an idiom which means something which is extremely outstanding and not many people may know about.

Unfortunately, this term is used too often in my opinion. This results in a decrease of strength to the true meaning of the word.

I will make you a promise, that I will handle this topic very cautiously and wisely. A destination will have to fulfill a long list of requirements, before qualifying.

To justify the above, let me give you an example. When I visited “Plitvice Lakes National Park”, I was blown away by its natural beauty. And yes, the road to get us there was quiet remote and adventurous. But with more than 1.000.000 visitors a year, you cannot really call it a “Hidden Gems”.

You will not be surprised, that this topic will be the least extensive one on my blog.
